They say ignorance is bliss. Ignorance can be a problem when it comes to major plumbing issues. The bliss of today could turn into a nightmare tomorrow. Ignoring certain problems with your plumbing can cost you thousands, and put your health in danger.

Some of these problems can be obvious while others may be more difficult to detect.

Here Is Our  List of the Top 5 Plumbing Problems That You Cannot Ignore.

1 – The Clogged Toilet

Everyone has to deal with this issue sooner or later. And you can’t ignore it if you need to use the restrooms.

If your toilet backs up, you may find that dirty water is deposited in your home. It can damage your walls, flooring, and baseboards.

This problem can be annoying, but it is also easy to identify and fix (mostly) with a drain or toilet snake. It may be necessary to seek professional help if plunging or snaking do not work.

2: Broken Shut Off Valves

It’s easy to overlook this problem, until you have to turn off the water to fix something else. Broken shut-off valves can also cause strong leaks, which waste tons of water every month.

If the main shut-off valve between your home and the water meter or street still works, replacing a broken shut-off valve can be simple. You may need to contact your city’s water utility to have them shut off the water at the curb source while you replace a broken shut-off valve if the main shut-off valve needs to be replaced.

How to replace a broken shut-off valve depends on the type of valve that you are replacing and the shut-off valve that you currently have.

3: Burst Pipes

For example, there are a few reasons why pipes may burst!

  • The aftershock of a distant earthquake shifted the soil a little too much.
  • The corrosive chemicals in the drain have eaten away at the pipe joint.
  • Your pipe has been damaged by the roots of a tree that is in your yard.
  • The pipe burst because of a cold snap that was cold enough to cause it to freeze, leading to a buildup of pressure.
  • The pipe is too old and fragile to continue operating under the pressure that it does.

Burst pipes can be a real pain. You shouldn’t ignore them for too long.

Burst pipes can cause not only major leaks but also a massive reduction in water pressure, and even contaminated water. It can be costly and dangerous to your health.

If the pipe ruptured underground, you may need to hire a plumber to access the pipes.

4: Low Water pressure

You shouldn’t ignore the problem if you notice a significant drop in water pressure at your home. If you notice a temporary drop in water pressure, it could be due to a hiccup with the municipal water supply. However, a persistent drop in pressure may indicate a leak or burst pipes in your home.

Check the water pressure in each fixture of your home if you notice a drop in water pressure. Do some fixtures run better than others in your home? This could help you locate the problem.

5: Clogged drains

This is a problem that people cannot ignore. Unclogging a drain is useless until you fix it. Like toilets, most drains that are clogged can be easily fixed with a drain snake or cup plunger.

Sink traps are the bends in the pipe that form a U-shape, S-shape, or J shape. The trap is usually a collection of clog debris that can be easily removed. Remove the trap if you can’t snake or plunge the clog. You may be able to remove the clog by removing the trap or use the drain snake to go deeper into the pipe. Be sure to place a bucket to catch any spilled water.

Contact a plumber if you are unable to clear the blockage after removing your trap. It may be too far along the line.

Don’t ignore these problems if you are experiencing them.
